Activision, Oh Activision! Well, it’s time to state the obvious. Call of Duty is a series that is in dire need of reinvention or face its inevitable retirement to the graveyard of tired old game franchises, probably a landscape stroon with plastic instruments and the corpses of ex-EA developers! So recently the trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC (Shaolin Shuffle) hit the internet, and well people are noticing something very odd. The new DLC features a new zombie mode story map with new characters and a 1970 NewYork setting with kick ass kung-Fu (probably thinking cool right). Having watched a video by YouTuber Rerez (highly recommend watching his channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/RerezTV ), he rants about an interesting part of the new trailer. There is no facial animation on the main characters. I mean none seriously! This displays the arrogance and laziness of Activision in a nutshell perfectly. Just shoving another DLC through the door quickly and cheaply as possible to cash in on its user base before the inevitable exodus.
I realise infinity ward has to take blame too; I mean how you can release a new story experience for any game and be so lazy not to bother to animate your characters. There is literally no emotion or change in any of the faces! Are these static, lifeless character models the new standard of Activision, if so expect a line of games with dead corpses as your hero? I guess kind of appropriate how in a zombie mode the heroes are looking more like the undead themselves. Activision get your s**t together, this is just another nail in the coffin for a franchise in desperate need of new direction. You know the worlds really messed up when you have to praise EA for doing a better job than Activision. At least EA has been listening, giving us a campaign in Titanfall 2 (which was great) and now even Battlefront 2 seems to be attempting to make up for the disaster of the last game. (Note: not saying EA are perfect in any way and still have a lot to do too).
